Tucked into the lush foothills of the Aberdare mountain range, Thiriku Co-Op thrives in one of Kenya’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions – Nyeri. Here, at elevations reaching nearly 2,000 meters, the cool mountain air slows the ripening of coffee cherries, allowing complex sugars and flavors to develop more fully. The region’s rich volcanic soil, abundant rainfall, and natural forest canopy create an ideal microclimate, where each coffee tree benefits from just the right balance of sun, shade, and nutrients.
